UPBRINGING AND FUTURE PLANS OF ROBOTIC SURGERY

- First robotic surgical device was created and used in 1985 by the name of Arthrobot. It was used for an orthopedic surgery.
- Unimation Puma 200, also manufactured in 1985, was used in brain biopsies.
- In the late 1980's, the PROBOT was created. It was used for prosthetic surgeries.
- The ROBODOC was then manufactured in 1992 after realizing the success of the previous device. It assisted in hip replacement surgeries.
- The approval of the ROBODOC by the FDA in 2008, encouraged the production of advanced robotic systems.
- The approval of the FDA and the advancements led to the creation of the Da Vinci Surgical System. That robotic device has 3D cameras connected to its "arms", allowing the surgeon to operate on the patient using a control console.
